Why This Expedition
This isn't built for people wanting a couple of hours on the water. It's white-water rafting combined with riverside camping, proper Himalayan scenery, and expedition planning that actually accounts for the whole journey, not just the rapids. If you've done shorter Rafting in Rishikesh before, this expedition takes everything you liked about those and stretches it across days rather than hours.
Over multiple days, you'll hit changing river conditions - powerful rapids one stretch, peaceful pools the next, forested valleys, sandy beaches, mountain views that don't quit. Every trip runs with highly trained river guides who keep safety front and centre without draining the excitement out of it.
Adventure traveller, corporate group, outdoor enthusiast - whoever you are, this is a real chance to step away from daily life and reconnect with something bigger. Few experiences in the Himalayas combine physical challenge with this much natural beauty in one continuous journey.
The Route
Your journey kicks off with the upper Bhagirathi river expedition, one of India's most exciting white-water stretches. As you head down toward Rishikesh, the river keeps shifting character - technical rapids, scenic gorges, calm pools, landscapes that genuinely stop you mid-paddle.
This Rishikesh river rafting expedition blends serious adventure with natural beauty that just keeps changing - every kilometre feels genuinely different from the last.

Bhagirathi
The Bhagirathi's known for fast-flowing Himalayan water, technical rapids, and surroundings that still feel untouched. Unlike the more commercial rafting stretches elsewhere, Bhagirathi rafting gives you a more immersive experience - fewer crowds, river conditions that never sit still, and a genuine sense of being somewhere remote rather than on a well-worn tourist circuit.
That mix of exciting white water, scenic valleys, rocky cliffs, and peaceful camp spots makes it one of Uttarakhand's genuinely most rewarding river adventures, and a natural extension of any serious Rafting in Rishikesh itinerary.
Inclusions
Your rafting expedition package is built around comfort, safety, and not having to think about logistics.
Everything's arranged so you can actually focus on the adventure, not the admin.
Itinerary
06:00 AM: Depart from Tapovan by Tempo Traveller.
11:00 AM: Arrive at the Upper Bhagirathi starting point.
After a full safety briefing, you're into the rafting - roughly 35-40 km through some genuinely exciting Himalayan rapids. By evening, you'll reach Vyas Ghat, where riverside camps are already set up and waiting.

After breakfast, the expedition continues with about 20 km of rafting toward Kaudiyala.
Along the way, there's time for short breaks - nearby waterfalls, a light hike, and a chance to take in the natural beauty around Gartang Gali. By evening, you'll reach Mahadev Chatti, another peaceful riverside campsite for the night.

Wake up to the river doing its thing, grab a proper breakfast, and get ready for the most exciting stretch of the trip. Today covers roughly 35-40 km - technical rapids, fast-flowing sections, and calmer patches where you can take in the Himalayan scenery.
You'll pass rocky gorges, forested riverbanks, sandy beaches, and stretches so secluded they feel untouched. Every rapid throws something new at you, which is exactly why this tends to be the day people remember most.
By evening, you'll pull in at Neem Beach before heading to your accommodation in Tapovan for a well-earned rest.

A relaxed breakfast, some time to process everything you've just done, and then check out at 10:00 AM. That's it - the expedition wraps up, leaving you with memories from one of India's finest white-water adventures.

Meals & Camping
Every day covers breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, dinner, and safe drinking water - nothing left to chance.
Lunch usually happens on white-sand river beaches, giving everyone a break before pushing on downstream. Nights alternate between riverside camping and comfortable accommodation depending on the itinerary - tents, freshly cooked meals, and bonfire evenings where allowed, building toward the kind of evening you want after a day on the water.
Safety
Adventure works best when the safety side of a 100 km rafting expedition is properly handled, not an afterthought. Every expedition runs under certified river professionals following internationally recognised practices - proper safety briefing, paddling technique, river commands, self-rescue, teamwork, the whole thing.
IRF-trained leaders on every trip.
Professional kayakers shadow every raft on serious water.
Full-size, self-bailing rafts built for multi-day rivers.
PFDs and helmets checked and fitted for every rafter.
Rescue equipment and first-aid kits carried at all times.
Weather and flow assessed before every put-in.
Who It's For
Basically, anyone with an adventurous streak and reasonable fitness. Previous rafting experience helps, but it's not required - proper instruction runs throughout, so first-timers aren't left guessing.
When to Go
October through June is generally the sweet spot for a rafting expedition in Uttarakhand, when river conditions, weather, and water levels line up best for a multi-day trip. Post-monsoon months bring stronger flows and bigger rapids, while spring offers milder temperatures and crystal-clear views across the Himalayan landscape. Every departure gets planned around actual river and weather conditions, not just a fixed calendar.
